It’s finally that time of the year; the most important red carpet event – MET Gala – is going to take place tomorrow and with one of the greatest themes ever: “Punk: Chaos to Couture”. If everything goes as perfect as I hope, this year may go down in history as the best ever. There is so much to discuss on the topic; the origin of punk and how it effected (and is still effecting) fashion and how ironic that actually is etc. But for now, I thought that it would be nice to recapture the most remarkable dresses from the MET Gala history – most shocking, most beautiful and the most theme appropriate. Of course there are hundreds of gowns that I couldn’t remember or couldn’t put in the list because that would be going beyond the aim, but I tried my best.

Click through to reminiscence the 60 most remarkable dresses of MET Gala history; from 1999 to 2012, all together with designer names and themes.

MET Gala 2013: Red Carpet Review

"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute GalaAnne Hathaway in Vintage Valentino

"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute GalaSarah Jessica Parker in Giles

"PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute GalaAnja Rubik in Anthony Vaccarello

Ahoy from the most fashionable night of the whole year, which – as I guessed earlier – hosted some of the most gorgeous gowns I’ve ever seen in my life. The theme (Punk: Chaos to Couture) was so explicit and wide yet it held the risk of lacking imagination and falling in the trap of obviousness.

My two evident favourites were Anne Hathaway; with her striking new hairdo and color & unbelievably edgy, courageous and elegant vintage Valentino gown – and the absolute red carpet queen Sarah Jessica Parker with her breathtaking Giles gown and a custom made Philip Treacy hat – which I think represents the punk in fashion as no other thing in the world can.

Click through to see all the looks from the MET Gala 2013 red carpet and my reviews on the best and the worst looks of the night.

Anja Rubik stayed loyal to her shocking style code and favourite designer Anthony Vaccarello, and in my opinion nailed it with a mini red leather dress which captured the essence of the theme so much better than last year. Rosie Huntington Whiteley‘s Gucci gown was another striking look from the night; rebel of perfect olive green satin teamed with tasteful mesh and rocker feather&sequins embodied in the sexy silhouette of the super model.

Fanning sisters opted for Rodarte and as much as I think Elle Fanning found a dress that was really suitable for her age and the theme; it was Dakota Fanning who got me with her just-the-perfect-amount-of-cleavage-looking-incredibly-hot black deep V neck gown (with an even more spectacular back).

My bizarre Princess Chloe Sevigny didn’t dissappoint me and looked marvelously retro and modern at the same time in her Proenza Schouler dress (what else?) and turban. Florence Welch was another star who succesfully turned the goth into punk – the difference of which may be confusing to a lot of people. Eve was surprisingly cool – surprising because I haven’t seen her in like ever, and in my memory lane she is inside the “tacky” folder. Prejudice is bad, they say.

Emma Watson looked so different from her normal self and got closer to the new character she is trying to build in her Prabal Gurung cut out dress, which also was one of the most theme-appropriate dresses of the night. (At this point I have to give it to Constance Jablonski, who rocked an otherwise prom-fail one shoulder Wes Gordon gown with the perfect ever leather harness neck.)

Last but not least; honorable mentions go to bohemian queen Ashley Olsen, who in my opinion chose one of the most daring looks of the night, and Nicole Richie for her as bold as her Topshop gown hair.

Of course there were other fascinating looks such as Blake Lively, Amanda Seyfried, Joan Smalls etc but as for the rest the only thing I can say is: this is the greatest fashion event of the year and it’s a costume ball. It’s the only night where you can go overboard and show your vision to the world, why stick to your regular gowns (Jennifer Lawrence, Marion Cotillard – I blame the million dollar Dior contract for this) or boring as hell outfits (Ivanka Trump, Heidi Klum, Kate Upton etc) or the worse, lack the tiny bit of imagination and go for the overly obvious (Sienna Miller, Miley Cyrus)?

Though I believe I can’t blame anyone for being irrelevant where the host of the event Anna Wintour wore a pretty but neither here nor there floral piece from Chanel.

Overall the night didn’t dissappoint me and left me with some looks that I will go “ooh” and “aah” for the upcoming years.

Carey Mulligan in Dior

Yeah I went there. I always wanted to use “Cannes” in a word play and even though I know that it’s not pronounced as “can” I couldn’t help myself. My apologies for the French speaking people out there.

A rainy opening ceremony and “The Great Gatsby” premier couldn’t hamper the awesomeness of the red carpet basically owned by Dior and Roberto Cavalli gowns. Carey Mulligan‘s minimal Dior gown is a wonderful change from her Daisy Buchanan character, which in my opinion was about to stick for a long time. And thanks to her bold red lipstick choice she doesn’t look washed up.

Cara Delevingne is her hot self in Burberry (what else) and Solange Knowles flows in a Cavalli gown that works perfectly with her skin. My other favouite is Zhang Yuqi wearing an  Ulyana Sergeenko gown in a shade of green which normally I am not a fan of but looks breathtaking on its owner. Other ladies who rock their Cavalli gowns are Paz Vega, Georgia May Jagger and Cindy Crawford.

Everybody who wore Dior to the premier (Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore and Zhang Ziyi) looks as elegant as you can imagine. Looks I don’t like personally are Isla Fisher in a prom dress looking Oscar de la Renta gown that does nothing to her, Florence Welch in Miu Miu (I really don’t get what she tried to do there) and Lana Del Rey with her weird posture.

Doutzen Kroes in Atelier Versace

Emma Watson in Chanel Couture

Liya Kebede in Alberta Ferretti

I’m going to give in to the mainstream title here; the endless red carpet at Cannes Film Festival. Everywhere I look I see a new gown – or another cocktail dress from the same actress the same day. If I were to cover the festival daily the blog would have been all about red carpet which I really don’t like so I wanted to round up all my favourite gowns from the last 2 days. Though still there are too many picks.

My favourite is – just like everybody else – Deutzen Kroes in a time stopping Atelier Versace gown. Thanks to Emma Watson, Liya Kebede, Olga Sorokina, Sara Forestier, Aime Mullins, Zhang Yuqi, Zhang Ziyi and Jessica Miller / black & white suddenly became the official color of red carpet. No complaints here.

Click to see the best looks from Cannes day 2 & 3 – and just hope to look half as gorgeous at that wedding you are waiting for a long time. Good luck!

Milla Jovovich in Chanel Couture

Jessica Biel in Marchesa

Carey Mulligan in Vionnet

Is it going to end, ever? Does Cannes Film Festival always last this long or they made some sort of fete this year just for the red carpet? I’m not kicking up a stink though; it’s appealing to my soft couture spot, giving a me a new post opportunity and my only complaint is I can not figure out who I love the most. First world problems…

BTW I’ve decided that Olga Sorokina is my favourite new celebrity – and I’ve found out that I don’t like Marion Cotillard as much (as I did before) because of her constant “I doesn’t even want to be here and I hate you all you poor bitches” look. And I’m so sick of her and Jennifer Lawrence in Dior – ALL THE TIME! I know you have a contract with an astronomical price but for god’s sake it’s BOOORIING. Dior is precious when you opt for it once in a while, like Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore, Carey Mulligan etc.

Last but not least, I don’t know what has happened to Jessica Chastain‘s style sense, or her will to live, but apparently Cannes air is not good for her. To see the rest of the Cannes red carpet from the weekend and day 6, click through!

Chiara Ferragni in Alberta FerrettiKsenia Rappoport in Alberta Ferretti2Dakota Fanning in Elie Saab Aka the alternative Alberta Ferretti runway. It’s refreshing to see a runway with beautiful (Italian) women floating since the last one was the everlasting Cannes which was 3 months ago. Honestly, I am not the biggest fan of Chiara Ferragni – not my style -  but I got to hand it to her. She looks gorgeous in her Alberta Ferretti gown, definately one of my favourites. Another Ferretti favourite is Ksenia Rappoport glowing in seafoam one shoulder gown. Sophie Kennedy’s coral Stella McCartney dress reminds me of the gorgeous Calvin Klein Emma Stone wore to Golden Globes, which I loved loved loved! Click to see the rest of my red carpet favs…

65th Emmy Awards Red Carpet

Julie Bowen in Zac Posen Zooey Deschanel in J Mendel Kiernan Shipka in DelpozoI am going to start a campaign to raise money for the “bring either Gwyneth Paltrow or Cate Blanchett to TV” fund or I’m going to die from the stuffiness of the next Emmy Award red carpet. The fact that the most talked about event of the night being Claire Danes’ faux bob or 13 year old Kiernan Shipka being the best dressed of the night (in a floral Delpozo dress) explains a lot, I think. Lots of boobs, lots of mermaid tails, lots of bows and frills; and a clear color card with rose and ice blue as winners.

Anna Faris was the only person who opted for a bright yellow gown, and she managed to ruin it with her horrible hair and make up choice. I mean, after a night where January Jones (yes, January Jones) looked implausibly flabby in a nude Givenchy (yes, Givenchy!) gown and the worst dressed of the night was Amanda Peet in Erdem (yes, she somehow managed to make Erdem look like a bad victorian play costume) I can only be so cheerful. Click through to see all the looks from 65th Primetime Emmy Awards and read my even more depressing comments…

In my book Julie Bowen made only one red carpet mistake, the Reem Acra princess gown she wore to Golden Globes couple of years ago. After that, she was on a strike, and that included tonight. Even though I find that rose pink Zac Posen gown too – everything – it looks perfect on her. Another favourite from the night is – kind of unbelievable for me – Zooey Deschanel in an ice blue J.Mendel which is a style shift for her – in a very very good way. The dresses she wore in the past, which she must have thought complimented her hipster-pinup character, did nothing for me. This gown is still unique, elegant and definately one of the best of the night.

Claire Danes is giving me the boobless women fever; which can be described as the affection towards women who can get along without any bra or any kind of support; who can rock the flapper dresses, strappy blouses, white tank tops – basically anything you can relate with 20′s or 90′s and minimalism. So while normal people go crazy over Christina Hendrix or Sofia Vergara, I swoon over Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan, Kate Hudson and yes, Claire Danes. Consequently, I was sold when I saw the Atelier Versacé sequinned nude gown on her with the  faux bob.

Claire Danes in Armani Privé Claire Danes in Armani Privé

After my wedding I found out that to any occassion you can wear white without the possibility of facing the terror of a bride, you should wear white. And unless you are a celeb or a member of the society, the odds are it’s not going to happen a lot. So I automatically applaud any women who shows up wearing white, I start doing cheerleader moves if the dress is Calvin Klein or Givenchy. For tonight, my white swan favourites are Taylor Schilling in halter neck custom made Thakoon, Sandrine Holt and Kate Mara in J MendelLily Rabe‘s curtain looking Vionnet and Kerry Washington‘s flower embroidered Marchesa gown made the cut on my worst dressed list.

Taylor Schilling in Thakoon Kate Mara in J Mendel Sandrine Holt Damian Lewis and Helen McCrory Lily Rabe in Vionnet Kerry Washington in Marchesa Kristen Connolly in Nicholas Oakwell

The biggest surprises of the night was Sofia Vergara wearing a red fishtail Vera Wang gown and Heidi Klum choosing a very expensive halloween costume from Versace for the night of only Emmy award she has ever won. It was almost as surprising as Breaking Bad winning the best drama series and Neil Patrick Harris doing a musical gig during the show. My favourite for the following category is Carla Gugino in Georges Chakra, complementing her figure and showing skin at the right place, at the right time.

Carla Gugino in Georges Chakra Sofia Vergara In Vera Wang Sarah Paulson in Carolina Herrera Morena Baccarin in Alexander McQueen Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt Michelle Dockery in Prada Mindy Kaling in Edition by Georges Chakra Kaley Cuoco in Vera Wang Heidi Klum in Atelier Versace

One of the most argued over topics of the night was Lena Dunham‘s flower printed green Prada dress. While everybody seemed like they hated it, I kinda liked it – especially from the waist up she looks super cute. The make up is splendid and the deep V neck bares her perfectly white skin. I admit the skirt makes her look really really big, which is probably why people were shocked, but I still think it reflects her personality and I’m giving her a thumbs up. Sarah Hyland‘s body suddeny aged 10 years in the gorgeous CH Carolina Herrera gown but her face still looked like 16 despite the burgundy lips and womanly updo so it creeps me out a little looking at her but that doesn’t change the fact that the dress was beyond beautiful.

Lena Dunham in Prada Sarah Hyland in CH Carolina Herrera Mayim Bialik in Olivier Tolentino Connie Britton in Naeem Khan Anna Chlumsky in Badgley Mischka Allison Holker

This just in: Ice blue is the color of the red carpet until further notice. Zooey Deschanel and Padma Lakshmi (in Kaufmanfranco) carried the color to success whereas the other sister Deschanel’s ill fitting Houghton one shoulder lace gown was a let down. Julianne Hough obviously went for a dip after the show hence the swimsuit and Jessica Pare somehow managed to look like a gift box in a deep sky blue Oscar de la Renta dress. As to Tina Fey‘s gorgeous figure under her Narciso Rodriguez gown, I wasn’t wearing my glasses when I first cought a glimpse of her and thought she was Sofia Vergara. Enough said.

The most dominant trend of the runway went around and infected the red carpet as well, black and white together & forever. It would have been better if they continued being together under the skirt of Leslie Mann‘s J Mendel gown though.

Nude and pink, what would we do without you? Well this year, it could have been good if you hadn’t been around, considering all you brought was dulness to our lives. Favourites are Rose Byrne in Calvin Klein (I mean, it’s pink, it’s Calvin Klein and it’s.. two piece!) and Laura Dern in Naeem Khan.

Anna Faris, the only reason you are standing alone on my blog page is because you have the only unique dress color. Not because you deserve it, with that god awful hair and make up. I like your dress though, kudos for trying to be Michelle Williams.

Oh and yeah, black. Cat Deeley‘s dreamful structured Armani is one of the best looks of the night, so is Robin Wright‘s astonishing minimal victorian Ralph Lauren gown. Christina Hendrix made a safe and right choice with Christian Siriano, Sarah Silverman wears a $60 dress which she bought online and Amy Poehler looks cute which she probably would with whatever she choose to wear. The list of black could get a curve of B+ if it wasn’t for Amanda Peet but sorry folks, my grade is C- and that’s final.

Alexa Chung Portia Freeman Sienna MillerI don’t know which detail about this year’s BFA makes me happiest: a super casual and unorthodox red carpet, Edie Campbell winning the model of the year award (it seems that British fashion people also think that Cara Delevingne is way overrated, thank god) or Sienna Miller’s rose-gold hair? Ok then, let’s look at the cons: you should never ever let public vote for anything at a fashion award show or else you may end up giving the British Style Award to Harry Styles and his half cow-licked half puberty sweat mixed curly hair. But not all awards went down the drain, and no matter what I’m so glad to see British fashion prosper and gain the international attention it’s been deserving for a long time. London has always been my favourite city of fashion inspiration and anything with a Brit essence that comes my way would always be welcome. It was – hands down – the easiest “best of” since Gwyneth Paltrow’s Tom Ford (and I know the resemblance is uncanny). But it was the hardest “who’s my number 2, 3, 4, 5, 6….” because it was also definitely one of the best red carpets ever. So many daring looks, wonderful new shapes (hello pregnant Kerry Washington in probably the most amazing maternity gown, ever) and speaking of looking amazing while pregnant, how can Olivia Wilde could look so good even she’s about to pop?

Two of my always favourites, Cate Blanchett and Emma Watson, nailed it again (I wouldn’t admit even if they couldn’t, but still) – former with a futuristic shaped gown adorned with classical lace, something only Cate can pull of and the latter with the most daring red dress – navy trousers combo. Helen Mirren is definitely aging backwards or the whole thing about getting uglier when you’re old is a complete bullshit, Amy Adams couldn’t get out of her American Hustle look (no complaints) and kept rocking the plunging neckline in a red hot Valentino, dresses that are short in the front longer in the back (hi there the dresses I bought 2 years ago and tossed out recently) made a comeback thanks to Elisabeth Moss‘ breathtaking J Mendel gown (not to forget Caitlin FitzGerald) and so on. Now that I’m writing this post at the Munich airport sitting on a very uncomfortable carpet floor – I am cutting it short. My best looks of the night are standing alone, all the rest in color-coded galleries and the worst are at the bottom of the page. Click through and let me know if you agree or not!

Taylor Swift in Gucci Premiere Iggy Azalea In Elie Saab Rita Ora In Lanvin

Ciara In Emilio PucciI’m going to be honest with you, I almost didn’t make this post. Not because I didn’t have the time or something but simply because I wasn’t feeling it. There were some OK looks but compared to previous years it was actually a lot “meh”. No Rihanna, no Beyoncé (she was the opening performer so she skipped red carpet, she later appeared in a stunning Michael Costello during the show) no Miley Cyrus to gossip over, Rita Ora looking beautiful and classy in Lanvin but there was nothing to freak out about. Most talked about woman was pregnant Ciara in a custom made Emilio Pucci sequinned gown, looking truly radiant. Then Taylor Swift came (later on her crazy hair joined the act too) with a chainmail, super glamourous Gucci and won the night. I really can not stand her or her music or especially her dance moves in award shows (she looks like my grandma trying to rap) but the hell she looks good.

Still though, I wasn’t convinced to do the post, I need at least 5 good looks to make it worth the effort. However I wasn’t thinking about the guys, the guys! Jared Leto and his beautiful ombre hair, a very much cleaned up super cute Macklemore in a velvet teal suit, Daft Punk and their ah-mazing boots and gloves, Steven Tyler and his all white look, Lars Ulrich‘s crazy cool outfit (hot couple alert) and of course, Pharell Williams and his Smokey the Bear hat. Oh that hat, which already has its own Twitter acount.

To hand it to some ladies who managed to avoid that artist zestlessness – Iggy Azalea in a dreamy Elie Saab, Alicia Keys rocking a blue plunging neckline, Pink trying out a red gown for the first time (though her mind blowing performance really outdid everything else) two Annas (Anna Kendrick and Anna Faris) looking good (it’s no surprise that they are both actresses). Oh BTW, remember that Valentino music notes gown that we saw 3 days ago on the runway? It turns out they shipped that thing out right after the show because Katy Perry was indeed wearing it. And it wasn’t as dreamy as it sounds.

Charlize Theron in Dior Cate Blanchett in Giorgio Armani Kate Hudson in Versace

Lupita Nyong'o in PradaAfter a long night of Jennifer Lawrence falling down (again) this time on the red carpet, Pharrel‘s Lanvin shorttux followed by a gif worthy performance of Lupita Nyong’O, Amy Adams and Meryl Streep dancing with him in THE Westwood hat, Ellen DeGeneres getting pizza for everyone and taking the most EPIC group selfie of all time (scroll down to the end of the post to see it!), Jared Leto and Lupita Nyong’O giving us teary eyes with their acceptance speeches and unfortunately some technical issues that took place more than once throughout the show, it’s time to go back to the beginning of the night and check out the red carpet again.

A wonderful surprise for me was Charlize Theron; it wasn’t a surprise because she was beautiful as hell but because I didn’t know she was going to attend. Never thought I’d say this after year 2000 but those invisible straps on Dior are MAGICAL. Two non-surprises were Lupita (I can not write her surname for the third time, it’s hard) and Cate Blanchett which not a single time in history wore something that I didn’t like. That embellished Giorgio Armani nude gown and more importantly those earrings are what a Best Actress winner should adorn herself with (that’s right I’m talking to you, Amy Adams in that soulless navy Gucci and weird hair, it seems like you didn’t at all believe that you’re gonna win. Nice earrings though.)

Lupita is another topic on her own, with her custom made Nairobi Blue Prada sparkly princess gown, which I normally would hate on anyone else or myself, and a signature headband on her semi-mohawk (and a tiny little golden man as the best accessory ever). However, I think the most memorable look of the night was Kate Hudson in a plunging Versace with a sculptural cape detail. If only she were nominated for something.

Click through to see all the looks (best and meh) from the night including Anne Hathaway in Gucci, Jennifer Lawrence in Dior, Naomi Wattz in Calvin Klein and Olivia Wilde in Valentino.

emma watson in peter pilottoIt’s a known fact that I love Emma Watson. Looo-oove her (like I had any other option being a fashion freak Harry Potter fan). But I think this admiration is not exclusive to me, she really does look amazing in everything – from Saint Laurent tuxedos to Oscar de la Renta ball gowns, from crop tops to body cons and from safe grace to risky and bold – with every hair style, any shade of lipstick, anywhere she goes. However, she’s been killing it a little more frequently than before in the past 2 weeks. She’s been touring and appearing on tv shows for her new movie Noah and stealing the spotlight in every single one of them. My favorites being the white slinky Ralph Lauren gown and floral sheer Erdem dress, Ms Watson rules them all. All.

100th Annual White House Correspondents' Association Dinner - ArrivalsNerd prom, jerk prom. Any occasion to see world’s most beautiful woman this gorgeous (yet again) deserves to be an annual thing.

I don’t know who determines the celebrities that shall attend this event, I actualy wasn’t aware of the dinner till I bumped into it on CNN during an NBA play-off break, but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a pleasant red carpet and I think it’s a good stretch before the MET Gala on monday evening. Freida Pinto in Thakoon and Katherine McPhee both looked elegant in pink whereas Darby Stanchfield‘s messy updo and floral embroidered green gown was cute overload. The fashion statement of the night (aside from Lupita Nyong’O in polka dot peplum Oscar de la Renta, which is an altered – toned down version of this show stopper), however, was made by fashion queen Linda Evangelista by her simple black column dress paired with a burgundy fur coat.

Karolina Kurkova in MarchesaKarolina Kurkova in Marchesa

Ah the MET Gala. The only night in the world where you can find this many stylish people from the fashion world %90 of whom never manage to dress up according to the theme and %100 of the world population never cares.

This night always make me think that designers have their favorite celebrities just like parents have favorite childs and they dress up their stars in artwork whereas they giftwrap the ugly ducklings (meaning: not very famous that year). How else can you explain the fact that the most glamourous (Karolina Kurkova) and the most hideous (Katie Holmes) dress of the night are both Marchesa gowns? Or that Oscar de la Renta sweeped the stage with so many statement gowns and deemed that taffeta nightmare suitable for Claire Dane?

One other reason this night’s my favorite night of the year is it’s when everybody is equally opinionated about very opposite judgements. For example: half of twitter land thought Lupita Nyong’o‘s style streak has ended and that she looks wrong on every level whereas I think she’s making a statement and being brave on the one night you have the license to be as freaky as you want. Or I found Kim Kardashian‘s Lanvin dress prom like (all the while appreciating her toned down style make over) whereas people praised her for her elegance.

Though there are some looks that don’t require no argument: like Beyoncé looked breathtakingly sexy while stealing all the spotlight and Olsen sisters really are the queens of the fashion world and no one can hit it like they do. Or Topshop DO make some seriously sick gowns and Stella McCartney‘s girls won the night.

Looking at previous years and 2014, I humbly deduced that Valentino and MET people do not get along well; comparing last year’s extraordinary Anne Hathaway look and this year’s Maggie Gyllenhaal disaster. Same goes with Dolce & Gabbana, I honestly believe they are burning with rage about the court order for their tax evasion and dressing Kate Upton like that is their revenge.

See the 60 most remarkable dresses of MET Gala history (excluding last year) here.

Cannes You Top It

blake lively in gucci premiere 1No you can’t, at least not for me. If there was one thing that was as amazing as Nuri Bilge Ceylan winning the Palme d’Or for the second time and dedicating it to all the young people who have died in Turkey (in the protests, mine accidents etc) the past year, it was the endless line of breathtaking gowns on the Cote d’Azur red carpet.

Last year I tried to make a post about Cannes red carpet every two days; there were a number of statement looks everyday and I wanted to share them in the heat of the moment. However, after 3 posts, I frankly got tired and couldn’t keep up with the marathon. This year I decided to wait till the end and make one big “best of Cannes 2014” post and boy was it hard.

Blake Lively‘s burgundy Gucci Premieré and Lara Stone‘s magenta Calvin Klein were absolute favorites, but I never intended to put Chloe Grace Moretz‘s statement Chanel look (maybe she should be the face of Chanel instead of Kristen Stewart, huh Karl?) or Daria Strokous‘ golden 40′s glamour or Adriana Lima‘s heart-pounding Alexandre Vauthier on the back burner.

I’ve read so many articles about how Cannes red carpet is much more courageous than of Academy Awards and it’s impossible not to agree: every year it’s one week of enviable overdose of highest possible fashion you can imagine and everytime you say “can they top it next year?” and yes, they always Cannes.

Keri Russell in a Rosie Assoulin dressThey say that if you see enough Rosie Assoulin or Calvin Klein gowns before you go to bed, the fashion fairy would leave money under your pillow for you to go buy beautiful stuff. Same goes with this year’s official style icon Rihanna’s boobs. Seriously, you have to read more to see her look.

The annual event recognizes the contributions made to American fashion from all areas of the industry with awards being given to designers as well as other individuals for accomplishments in journalism, creative vision, and lifetime achievement. That being said, all I will remember from this year would be RiRi‘s nipples I guess. I know I should have put her photo above but taking consideration of the possibility that some people opening my blog in their work environment, I opted for an equally beautiful Rosie Assoulin gown worn by Keri Russell.

I must add I was torn between Solange Knowles channeling Diana Ross in Calvin Klein, Coco Rocha in Christian Siriano and Jaime King in Calvin Klein.  God I’m so glad some people can look this amazing.

Lizzy Caplan in Donna KaranLizzy Caplan in Donna Karan

Actually the reddest red carpet of all red carpets since the Valentino Garavani retirement runway. I don’t know if there was a memo or something but s.it got weird last night at Emmy Awards. One after another everybody appeared in red gowns which made me admire the blue and white dresses even more.

Click through to see all the looks from the night: the best, the worst and the annual boringsters.

First of all, what’s the deal with Julia Roberts? She was the only one who wore a short dress and boy was it the mother of all short dresses. No one could have rocked that Elie Saab better than her with those killer legs. Lizzy Caplan was another dream in b&w Donna Karan, absolutely breathtaking.

My three biggest kudoses go to Laverne Cox, for being the amazing fierce woman she is; Ariel Winter for bringing her red carpet game ridiculously high up and Kerry Washington for literally being a showstopper in that stunning Prada. Speking of stopping shows, whilst everybody else seem to loathe Sarah Paulson’s Armani Prive stardust gown, I’d like to admit that I liked it. A lot. I remember seing it on runway and thinking it’s beyond beautiful so I’m really glad that someone had the courage to take it to real life.

Of all the red dresses I think January Jones’ Prabal Gurung is my favorite; not only because it has a gorgeous skirt and hemline but also because she managed to wear a pair of shoes that goes perfect with the dress – which to be honest is really hard to achieve when it comes to American celebrities.

My worsts of the night were Lena Dunham in that is-that-really-Valli-or-are-my-eyes-bleeding shirt & skirt combo and Hayden Panettiere in a silver gown with a seriously questionable mesh deep V neck. Sorry Hayden, happy for you and your little girl but that doesn’t give you fashion credit in medleyville.

2014 best party looks11

I’m not a usual sucker for celebrity and socialite style especially with candid shots and street style but when it comes to party looks, they know what they are doing. Here are my favorite 25 party looks from galas, gallery openings, cocktails, red carpets, weddings, award shows and so on – all from 2014, all gorgeous and more importantly all will inspire you to get together your holiday party looks. May 2015 bring us all the glory we need to look half as good.

Emma Stone in Lanvin

Emma Stone in Lanvin

I was on the fence about making a post of this Golden Globe red carpet; I didn’t think that any of the looks, even the good ones, were worth keeping me up till 6 in the morning (I’m in Turkey right now). However, Emma Stone gracing the runway with a beautiful strapless Lanvin jumpsuit, Julianne Moore‘s unbelievable custom made Givenchy gown, Lena Dunham looking her best EVER in a red Zac Posen piece and Sienna Miller bringing life back to red carpet with her bejeweled playful MiuMiu dress couldn’t go unnoticed. Unfortunately, it was a boring night with a boring red carpet and an even more boring award show. I need MET Gala for some glamor to my soul.

Lupita Nyong'o in custom Calvin Klein

Tonight, Lupita Nyong’o not only outdid herself or everyone else on the red carpet but she also outdid ANY dress that will make appearance on any red carpet ever again. She wore the ultimate fancy frock, the most beautiful dress in the history of dresses. Francisco Costa, designer of Calvin Klein, created this mesmerizing mermaid gown using 6,000 pearls and my god, it is breathtaking. Not only will it go down in history as one of the best looks of Academy Awards, but most probably also be displayed in a museum some day.

My all time can-do-no-wrong star Naomi Watts came in second, if not for Lupita could have easily been no 1, stunned in a grey printed deep cut halterneck Armani Privé dress with a bralette detail from the side and back. 50 Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson was also one of the hits in a sleek red Saint Laurent (Christian would have looooved it) with the most perfect one shoulder detail I’ve ever seen in my life.

Rosamund Pike in red hot Givenchy, Reese Witherspoon in white Tom Ford with black drop shoulder line, Julianne Moore in embellished custom Chanel, Sienna Miller in ODLR and Emma Stone in Elie Saab are my other favorites of the night.

While most of the looks were ok red carpet wide, there were also some serious WTF moments. Like Solange Knowles in the most hideous tops and pants combo I’ve ever encountered, anywhere, or Felicity Jones in an absurd Alexander McQueen ball gown which can’t possibly hold a candle to her glorious Balenciaga dress at SAG awards.

Click through to see the best & worst (and also OKs) of 87th Academy Awards red carpet.
